PHYLLIS E. FEDERICO is a founding partner of Warner, Federico and Ryan LLP. She has concentrated her practice in the area of complex domestic relations litigation for the past thirty-eight years. Her practice encompasses all aspects of matrimonial and domestic relations law, including divorce, custody, modifications, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and paternity. Phyllis handles high-conflict disputes with an emphasis on business valuation and custody litigation.
Phyllis has chaired and been a panel member of many continuing education programs for Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education, (“MCLE”), the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Association of Guardian ad Litems, (“MAGAL”), the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, (“AFCC”) and has been a guest lecturer at Boston College Law School and Suffolk University Law School. She has authored many articles on family law practice. She is the Editor of the MCLE publication “Massachusetts Divorce Law Practice Manual” and has co-authored the Separation Agreement Chapter for that publication for many years. She is the co-author of MCLE’s annual publication “Massachusetts Family Law Sourcebook and Citator.” Phyllis is a Fellow of the Boston Bar Association and has served as a member of the Council of the Boston Bar Association and as the Chairperson of the Family Law Section of the Boston Bar Association (1996/1998). Phyllis is the past President of the Board of Trustees of MCLE and a member and past President of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Inn of Court.
Volunteerism and contributions to the bench and bar are of great importance to Phyllis. She has served on a number of committees and pilot programs created by the Chief Justice of the Probate & Family Court and is presently spearheading the Child Focus Facilitation Conference in the Barnstable, Essex, Middlesex and Norfolk County Probate & Family Courts.
She is listed in Naifeh & Smith’s “Best Lawyers in America,” and “Best Lawyers in America – Women in the Law.” She has been listed as one of Boston Magazine’s top fifty female attorneys and has been included as a Super Lawyer in Boston Magazine in the category of family law since 2004, as well as “New England Super Lawyers.” In 2016, Phyllis was named one of Massachusetts Top Women of the Law by Lawyers Weekly. In 2018 Ms. Federico was selected as a Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement inductee representing outstanding professional dedication and career longevity. In 2022 Phyllis was named one of Boston Magazine’s Lawyers of the Year. She is a 1985 graduate of Suffolk University Law School.
